Carbon Dioxide is an asphyxiant, mildly toxic, non-flammable, colourless and odourless gas. Carbon Dioxide is heavier than air and will collect in low lying areas such as ducts and drains.

Nitrous Oxide is widely used as a base anaesthetic generally supplemented with either potent volatile or intravenous anaesthetic. It is also used extensively for relative analgesia and as a freezing agent in cryosurgery.
